How this was created:

"Lively" was created in two steps. First we selected the treble clef staff and used the menu command "generate melody idea with chords." Then we selected the bass clef staff and used the command "Generate melody for existing chords." That made a bass that could be expected to more or less agree with the upper staff melody.

This tune is unusual for a Songworks-invented melody in that the phrasing actually makes sense. But you just never know what the program will think of.

Orchestration:

We used the "shimmering flute" in GarageBand for the melody, and the Harpsichord from Garritan Personal Orchestra provided the accompaniment chords and also the bass line.
